Project Purpose

Mid-Western Regional Council is updating a recreation strategy for the Mid-Western Region. The purpose of the strategy is to provide direction to Council and the community on the planning and development of recreation opportunities and facilities over the next 10 years.

Mid-Western Regional Council aims to provide a diverse network of quality recreation assets that are fit-for-purpose and continue to meet the needs of the Mid-Western community. Therefore, the strategy demands that current recreation trends and contemporary best practices in recreation grounds and facilities planning and participation models be considered. For the purpose of the strategy, recreation is to be regarded as encompassing assets such as parks, sports fields and facilities, recreation reserves and facilities (including natural reserves and showgrounds).
