Wollar Road Closure

UPDATE Friday 1 July: Wollar Road has now been re-opened and the road is fully sealed. Temporary speed limits remain in place as final works are completed.

Heavy downpours throughout March have delayed the reopening of Wollar Road, which has been closed through the Munghorn Gap to realign two dangerous curves as part of the three-year road safety upgrade. The road is expected to reopen in time for the school holidays on Saturday, 9 April.

The closure remains in place between the Castle Rocks Car Park and Cumbo Road (see below). Detours are via Ulan Wollar Road.

There will be some delays as works continue after this period under traffic control. The entire project is expected to be complete by May when traffic will return to normal.

These works are part of the $6.8 million Wollar Road Upgrade, jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government through its Restart NSW Fund and Saving Lives on Country Roads programs.

Council apologises for any inconvenience and reminds motorists that all temporary speed limits during the construction are enforceable by police.
