Significant Tree Register Policy

Objective

The Significant Tree Register recognises trees that make an exceptional contribution to the character, biodiversity, social values and history of the region.

The Significant Tree Register Policy aims to establish a transparent and consistent framework for the identification, assessment and protection of trees of heritage, cultural, aesthetic, scientific, or environmental significance within the Mid-Western Regional Council Local Government Area (LGA).

Any member of the public, community group or Council officer may make a nomination, using the Significant Tree Register nomination form.

Only Council, by formal resolution at a Council meeting, may adopt or reject a nomination.

Adopted trees are recorded on the Significant Tree Register, found below.
