School holiday activities across the region
Published on 03 July 2025
Young people across the region are in for a fun and engaging winter break, with Council’s Youth Services delivering a free program designed for those aged 12 to 24.
The July School Holidays schedule includes creative workshops, skills training, drop-in sessions, outdoor activities, and an exciting day trip – all aimed at building confidence, encouraging creativity, and supporting social connection.
In Kandos and Gulgong, drop-in sessions will offer a welcoming space to relax with friends, play games, journal or enjoy music. In Mudgee, young adults aged 16 to 24 can complete a free, accredited CPR course at the Country Universities Centre on 15 July, gaining life-saving skills and basic first aid.
On 17 July, budding performers can join a theatre workshop at Mudgee Town Hall led by Sam Paine, featuring storytelling, confidence-building and fun games.
Mayor Des Kennedy said the program was a great way for young people to connect and grow during the holidays.
“We’re proud to support a program that brings together skill-building, creativity and connection,” Cr Kennedy said.
“It’s so important that young people have access to safe and inclusive spaces - especially during the school break. Whether it’s learning CPR, performing on stage, or just spending time with peers, these experiences help build confidence and a strong sense of community.”
On 18 July, the Cudgegong Camera Club will lead a guided photo walk through Putta Bucca Wetlands, showing participants how to capture great nature shots, with cameras available to borrow. A day trip to Dubbo on 16 July includes an Escape Room challenge and guided tour of the Old Dubbo Gaol.
Council’s libraries will also be hosting a variety of fun activities.
For those unable to attend, Council is also offering a creative online competition and free mailout activity kits to keep everyone entertained.
All activities are free, but places are limited and bookings are essential. For the full schedule and to register, visit Council’s events page
