Mudgee Regional Saleyards has delivered one of its biggest sale days ever, with livestock sales exceeding $3.1 million, highlighting the strength of the region’s livestock sector and the continued confidence of producers, agents, and buyers.
At Wednesday’s Fat Sale, over 1600 head of cattle were sold at an average price of $1843.93 per head.
In sheep, a total 742 were sold at an average price of $206.96 per head.
Council’s General Manager, Brad Cam said these results are a reflection of the favourable market conditions as well as strong reputation of the region’s livestock.
“This record sale is a testament to the hard work of our producers and the confidence buyers have in the quality of livestock coming out of the Mid-Western Region,” Mr Cam said.
“Mudgee Regional Saleyards continues to be a key facility for our rural community, supporting local jobs, strengthening our agricultural sector, and contributing to the economic wellbeing of the region.”
Council’s investment in ongoing upgrades and maintenance at the Saleyards has supported improved animal welfare, operational efficiency, and safety for agents, transporters, and visitors. Recent saleyards improvements have included new scale doors, a sheep Electronic Identification (EID) reader for modern livestock management, amenity renovations and upgraded lighting. The refreshed administration office and 24-hour access to bathrooms offer added convenience for transport companies.
Council acknowledges the work of the local agents, and industry partners whose collaboration ensures the facility remains a trusted and well-managed livestock exchange. For more information about upcoming sales visit Council’s website or Facebook page.
