NAIDOC Week

In recognition of NAIDOC Week (3-10 July), Council will host a number of events and movie screenings throughout the region this week.

Events will begin with a screening of the documentary Lake of Scars at Mudgee Town Hall Cinema on Thursday (7 July) from 6pm.

The following day (Friday, 8 July), a special event including Welcome to Country, performance and smoking ceremony, flag raising and light lunch will be held at Kandos Museum (22 Buchanan Street, Kandos) from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

This event will follow a second screening of Lake of Scars at NEWCO Cultural Centre (28 Angus Avenue, Kandos) from 6pm.

NAIDOC Week 2022, celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is ‘Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!'
