Mudgee Arts Precinct has been recognised for the construction of the facility and delivery of its inaugural year of programming at the IMAGinE Awards.

The Precinct was the recipient of the Innovation and Resilience Award, which recognises the outstanding efforts of museums and galleries during hardship and celebrates excellence and innovation in exhibition practice, resilience-building projects and engagement programs.

In an announcement of the award, IMAGinE said: “The construction of Mudgee Arts Precinct’s state-of-the-art regional gallery provides a cultural hub for the region and creates a platform for diverse local talent.

“The innovative design of the building was complemented by an exceptional inaugural year of programming which highlighted the region’s artists and celebrated a strong connection to place. The local community and visitors to the region are embracing the new artistic hub with attendance reaching over 34,796 in 12 months.”

Gallery Curator, Lizzy Galloway said the Precinct staff were honoured to be recipients.

“These awards recognise the important work done by galleries and museums and how they support the cultural needs as well as the wellbeing and liveability of our communities,” Ms Galloway said.

“This award represents the successful completion of Mudgee’s new regional gallery and how it has been embraced by the local community and visitors to the region with large attendance numbers over the past 12 months.

“It is particularly encouraging to see the schools utilising the facility from an educational perspective with so many groups visiting from across the region.”

Earlier this year the Mudgee Arts Precinct’s building design received the Australian Institute of Architecture’s 2022 NSW Division Award for Public Architecture and has been shortlisted in the 2022 World Architecture Awards to be announced this month.
