Spot Joe Rider

To increase road safety for riders on our local roads, Council is joining neighbouring regions to run Spot Joe Rider – a fun motorcycle campaign to help drivers notice riders.

The program was scheduled to run as part of Motorcycle Awareness Month in October, however was postponed due to flooding events.

From Monday, 5 December, there will be motorcyclists dressed in a bright yellow vests as Joe Rider riding through Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone, Kandos and surrounding villages.

Spot Joe Rider encourages drivers and their passengers to look out for motorcyclists dressed as Joe Rider and report their sighting online to enter a draw to win daily Mudgee Money prizes.

Council’s Road Safety Officer, Sammy Cecchini said the Joe Rider volunteer motorcyclists will be riding through CBD areas throughout next week.

“From Monday 5 to Friday 9 December, our Joes will be riding around local roads and we challenge you to spot them,” Ms Cecchini said.

“Motorcycle riders are more exposed than other drivers. If they are involved in a crash, they risk serious injury or death. A common risk for riders is not being seen at intersections or while changing lanes.”

Once drivers have pulled over to a safe place, Joe Rider sightings can be reported on Council’s website. A $50 Mudgee Money voucher is up for grabs each day of the competition.

Help motorcyclists ride to live. Spot ‘Joe Rider’ on our local streets between 5 and 9 December and enter for your chance to win.

This is the first time Mid-Western Regional Council and Transport for NSW have run Spot Joe Rider locally.
