Rescheduled National Tree Day event - this weekend
Published on 07 August 2025
Council invites the community to join in the rescheduled National Tree Day celebration this Sunday (10 August) from 10am to 1pm at Glen Willow Sports Complex.
The event was unfortunately a wash out two weeks ago but the forecast is for sunny skies this weekend.
This much-loved annual event offers locals the opportunity to roll up their sleeves and help plant more than 500 native trees and shrubs along Lawsons Creek.
The planting aims to enhance local biodiversity and attract more native wildlife to the area.
The event will be held behind the Junior Rugby League fields at Glen Willow, with planting to take place along the creek line. Attendees should follow the road around the outside of the complex, passing the dog park and netball courts. Parking will be available in the P4 car park, with signage in place to guide volunteers to the planting site.
Volunteers are asked to wear a hat, sunscreen and enclosed shoes to ensure their safety and comfort on the day. All gloves, tools, watering cans and buckets will be provided, along with drinking water and light refreshments. A free barbecue lunch will be available at the conclusion of the planting.
Council looks forward to welcoming residents for a meaningful morning of community action and environmental care.
