Discounted pet desexing and free microchipping
Published on 02 July 2025
Throughout the month of August pet owners can access a discount on desexing services as part of a joint initiative between Council, local vet practices and the RSPCA.
A $140 discount will be available per procedure, with an additional discount available for a limited number of pension concession card holders.
This joint initiative aims to make the service more accessible to the community, encourage responsible pet care and limit the number of unwanted litters in our region
The discount is available during August only and is limited to one desexing procedure per household. Expressions of Interest are now open on Council’s website and close 18 July.
Customers can nominate their preferred vet through Council’s website with only 100 spots available. Veterinary practices will contact customers directly to arrange an appointment. Submitting an expression of interest does not guarantee a booking, you will be notified by Council if you are unsuccessful.
Pet owners are reminded Council also offers free microchipping for cats and dogs throughout the year.
For more information visit the microchipping and registration page on Council’s website.
