Colourful Recovery Community Day

The arts and local emergency and recovery services will join forces to inform and educate as part of a community day at Mudgee Arts Precinct this Saturday.
Hosted by the Precinct and Council in conjunction with Resilience NSW, the Colourful Recovery open day will include a combination of workshops and an exhibition to create, learn and connect.
The artist behind the precinct’s current exhibition Retreat, Regeneration, Reflection, Linda Jackson AO will be providing guided tours of her exhibition that documents a year of photography after the 2019/2020 Black Summer Bushfires that burnt through her Clandulla property.
Linda will also host creative activities and some collaborative fun for children and adults as well as a reading from her book Rainbow Menagerie.
The first 100 children through the door will receive a goody bag containing a special Colourful Recovery, Linda Jackson colouring book.
“It’s so exciting to be involved in something like this, especially with what’s happening right now across our country,” Linda said.
Local emergency and recovery services will be available with information on seeking help in a disaster and also volunteering opportunities.
Council’s Community Recovery Officer, Peta Luke said the community day will focus on reconnecting with ourselves, each other, and available recovery and resilient resources.
“The region has been impacted by several events over the last few years, from the drought, tragic bushfires, mouse plagues, COVID restrictions and the recent floods,” Ms Luke said.
“This has placed a large strain on all of us, socially, financially and mentally. In conjunction with Resilience NSW we invite you to enjoy a few hours at our community day at the precinct and learn what services are available to help.”
Colourful Recovery will take place at Mudgee Arts Precinct this Saturday, 19 March from 9am to 1pm.
