Mobile food vendors

The Mid-Western Region offers a multitude of outdoor events, with an increasing number of opportunities for mobile food vendors and temporary food stalls.

As with permanent food business premises, mobile food vendors and temporary food stalls are required to be notified to Council.

Mobile food vendors and temporary food stalls are also required to comply with current food laws and ultimately to ensure that food being sold is safe. More information about Council’s requirements for these types of businesses can be found via the Mobile Vending and Street Trading Policy.

Applying to operate

If you wish to operate on Council owned land an approval under Section 68 of the Local Government Act is required.

You will need to complete and submit an application via the NSW Planning Portal along with the below form:

Further guidelines have been developed by the NSW Food Authority in consultation with local Councils to assist food operators trading at temporary events such as festivals, fairs and markets, outlining specific requirements which need to be complied with to meet the practical requirements of the current food laws.
