What do I do if my bin is stolen or damaged?
Council does not replace lost or stolen waste or recycling bins. Bins belong to and are the responsibility of the property owner and need to be maintained and replaced when necessary. Spare parts for bins such as sulo bins are available from local hardware stores.
However, if a bin is damaged due to a mechanical fault by Council's collection truck a replacement bin will be provided. In these cases the breakage is reported by our driver and Council will replace the bin (this does not include breakage as part of normal emptying due to wear and tear or inadequate maintenance).
What do I do if my bin is not collected?
Please check to see if all the other bins in your street have been collected, if they haven’t the truck may have been delayed and you will need to leave the bin out until it is collected.
If all other bins in the street have been collected please check your bin for a sticker, this will explain why collection was not done. Common reasons why a collection would be missed would be -
- if the bins is obstructed by a car
- the bin is facing the wrong way
- the bin is too close to a tree, letterbox or fence
- in the case of recycling contains incorrect materials
We are unable to divert the truck back to collect bins that were not placed out correctly. Please place these out for the next scheduled collection or alternatively take/deliver your waste to Mudgee, Gulgong or Kandos Waste Facilities.
Were some properties issued with recycling bins?
For Work Health & Safety and collection efficiency Council changed the collection system from crates to bins in 2009. Existing customers at that time received their bins from Council, this was a one of arrangement and was due to the system being changed and existing customers being no longer able to use their recycling crates they had previously purchased.
How do I get a new bin?
Council does not provide free waste or recycling bins. For those in the town areas of Mudgee, Gulgong, Kandos, Rylstone, Charbon and Clandulla there is a kerbside collection service available. To use this service the home owner will need to purchase a standard green garbage bin for domestic waste, these bins area available from local hardware stores. The blue and yellow recycling bins can be purchased through Council. To download our fees and charges, please click here. Payment can be made at any of Councils administration offices and a work request will then be raised for the delivery.
How is my recycling sorted?
All recycling is hand sorted at Council’s facility using support workers through our Disability Enterprise.
It is important to ensure that only the correct recyclable products are placed in your recycle bins. Incorrect waste types can cause the contaminated load to be rejected and sent to land fill and some items may even pose a problem for the health and safety of workers.
