Meals on Wheels

Did you know that Council is a registered provider under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)? Flexible Community Transport and Meals on Wheels options are available to suit participants’ budgets. Services are negotiated directly with participants and delivered when, where and how they choose. Please contact Council’s Community Services to discuss solutions on 6378 2850, at council@midwestern.nsw.gov.au or in person at the Carmel Croan Community
Services Centre at 88 Market Street, Mudgee.

Meals on Wheels is an essential Community Service which offers a range of meal options including hot meal delivery to be consumed immediately as well as frozen meals that allows the client to choose when they want to eat. Frozen meals are also available for people to supplement for week-ends and for people living in the rural and remote areas around Mudgee.

Meals on Wheels cater for frail/aged people and younger people with disabilities and their carers. Prospective clients’ may refer themselves to the service or be referred by a friend, relative, doctor or any medical service.

Meals are delivered Monday to Friday and all Public Holidays.  There is a choice of 2 main hot meals and 2 sweets per day with a rotating MENU of 4 weeks.  The emphasis is on providing a service planned to suit the needs of the individual client.

One of the most appreciative aspects of the meal delivery to clients is the daily contact by the volunteer along with monitoring their wellbeing, health and safety. Meals on Wheels are “more than a meal."

For further information and a printed menu, please contact the Co-ordinator on 6378 2714.
