Strategic Plans & Policies
A number of strategic plans have been developed to assist in managing Council's facilities across the region. Policies are used to provide a framework of activities and standards for this infrastructure.
Parents Room Facility
Public parenting rooms and baby change facilities are available in three locations in the Mudgee CBD including;
- Robertson Park, located across from the Mudgee Visitor Information Centre (84 Market Street)
- Town Hall Library, 64 Market Street.
- Town Hall Arcade, located adjacent to Market Street Cafe and Mudgee Newsagency.
Council owns, operates and manages cemetery facilities at Gulgong, Mudgee and Rylstone. Council also maintains rural cemeteries in the villages of Hargraves, Windeyer, Ulan, Wollar, Ilford, Lue and the localities of Tunabutta, Cudgegong and Crudine, but to a lesser standard than the main cemeteries.
Halls & Other Community Buildings
Council owns a number of buildings around the Region which are used for a variety of purposes. These include Council’s own office buildings, community halls and buildings such as rural halls and the Stables Complex in Mudgee, the saleyards, showgrounds and caravan parks.
Land Development & Housing
Council owns many residential and commercial properties within the Mid-Western Region that, from time to time, may be leased, agisted, rented or sold.
Council also has an involvement with Crown Road Transfers and easements for water, sewer and drainage infrastructure.
The Mudgee Airport is a vital infrastructure asset for the Mid-Western Region. It is important that this asset be maintained and developed as a modern regional airport that has the capability of attracting new aviation businesses to the area.
The Mudgee Airport is located 5km north east of the Mudgee CBD. The 95 hectare site includes the main sealed runway 1,739 metres in length, and a secondary grass runway 1,075 metres in length.
The undercover Mudgee Saleyards have been operating from their current site on Abattoirs road since 2003. Public sale days are held every Wednesday, with cattle sales commencing at 8:30am and sheep at 11:30. A monthly store sale is held on the last Thursday of every month commencing at 1.30pm. Other saleyard services include a truck wash facility, stock stopover for long haul carriers and a canteen on sale day.
Parks & Sporting Fields
Council provides and maintains 6,164 m² of garden beds and approximately 245.39 hectares of turfed or general mowing areas for parks, playground areas, sports fields and reserves, all for the enjoyment of the community and visitors to the region.
Mid-Western Regional Council operates both the Mudgee and Rylstone Showgrounds. The showgrounds are multi-use facilities and have played host to a wide range of activities including local shows, community, sporting and equestrian events for many generations.
Mid-Western Regional Council has three pool facilities within our Region. These pools are located at Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos.
All swimming pools are fully supervised by qualified staff and Council endeavours to provide a safe, fun, smimming environment for all pool users.
