Swimming Pools

Mid-Western Regional Council has three pool facilities within our Region. These pools are located at Mudgee, Gulgong and Kandos.

Operating Hours

All our pools are open 7 days a week, excluding Good Friday and Christmas Day.

Boxing Day and New Years Day the pools open at 10am

and Anzac Day they open at 1pm

Please Note limited facilities will be available whilst construction is in progress to improve the amenities and facilities at all three pools.

It is Council's proposal to ensure these facilities are maintained and operated at similar levels and to a standard that allows the community to continue to enjoy the benefit of these high quality facilities.

Council has aligned the opening and closing hours at all three pools, a change made possible by the installation of pool heating at Gulgong in early 2008.

All swimming pools are fully supervised by qualified staff. During the per Mudgee Swimming Pool iod of school holidays, Council also provides additional lifeguards so that patrons can use the pool knowing that adequate safety procedures are in place.

In 2009/10 Council undertook a review of the structure of its swimming pools. These pools are now over 50 years old. When the results of that review are complete, Council will undertake a vigorous discussion with the community on future expenditure needs required to retain appropriate swimming pool facilities in our region. If the decision to replace a pool is the only outcome then Council has indicated that it may need to apply to the State Government for a variation to the rate cap to fund loan repayments. This application will only be made after extensive public consultation.
