Council generally holds regular meetings twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays, except in January when there are no Council meetings and in July when there is only one meeting on the third Wednesday.
Occasionally Council holds extraordinary meetings. These are Council meetings held outside the normal meeting cycle, most often to consider matters of an urgent nature.
Council also has advisory committees comprised of Councillors, members of the public and staff of the Council. These committees, focused on specific narrow areas of expertise, make recommendations for consideration by the Council.
Members of the public may address the Council meetings at an Open Day which precedes each regular meeting. Speakers are given 5 minutes to present any issue of relevance to the Council. Presenters are not allowed to direct questions to Councillors, although Councillors may question the speakers.
If you wish to speak at Open Day please contact the Executive Secretary on 1300 765 002 or 02 6378 2850 by 3pm on the day of the meeting. Alternatively, please make yourself known to the Manager Governance prior to the commencement of the meeting.
