Policies and Strategies
Council works to enhance the development of the community by working with a range of different agencies, working parties and committees. A number of planning documents have been developed including the Social Plan, the Cultural Plan and the Youth Strategy. These documents underpin the work of Council in the Community and provide strategic direction for the support and development of service delivery in the Region.
SOCIAL PLAN
The Mid-Western Regional Council Social Plan 2006 seeks to inform Council and the wider community of current and emerging social issues within the Region and to provide practical and cost effective strategies to address these issues for the benefit of all residents of the Local Government area.
The Plan recognises that many social issues impact on more than one target population group or service. All services operate in a highly competitive marketplace for scarce funding and resources.
The Mid-Western Regional Council Social Plan 2006 has a number of specific aims, which together seek to address the wider objectives of the plan. The aims and objectives of this document are listed here

CULTURAL PLAN
The development of a cultural plan is vital to the support and growth of cultural pursuits in the Mid-Western Regional Council (MWRC) area.
The Cultural Plan aims to ensure that achievable outcomes create equitable access to cultural services and facilities in the region as well as responding to the cultural priorities of the community. Council recognises the need to ensure that 'culture' is inclusive rather than exclusive and encapsulates the broad range of arts, crafts and related industries.
The Cultural Plan outlines a vision for culture in the region. It proposes a number of clearly targeted objectives and strategies to focus cultural development in the region by Council and strategic partnerships with the community, government and private sector bodies.
