Mudgee Showground

The Mudgee Showground is a popular space within easy walking distance of many residents and local shops. Offering a variety of buildings and infrastructure to meet the needs of the public and groups, the Showground is regularly used for shows, events and activities during the year.

The Mudgee Show has been held on the current site since 1856. It takes place annually on the first Friday and Saturday of the month of March.

The grounds are a popular venue for horse enthusiasts offering long term and short term stabling facilites, a round yard, a dressage arena and a large oval to excercise horses. In addition, the Showground is located close to many trails currently utilised by horse riders.

Buildings at the Showground can cater for various events and can be hired in conjuction with events that take place on the grounds. The buildings are popular for stock sales, exhibitions, birthday parties and other social events, functions and auctions.

Groups such as the Mudgee Dressage Group, Mudgee Pony Club, Poultry & Pigeon Club, Gymnastics Group, and Wordworking Club also currently utilise the facilities on a regular basis.

The Mudgee Small Farm Field Days started at the Mudgee Showground and were located on the site for many years. Eventually, the Field Days outgrew the site and moved to AREC, but history shows that the site is capable of staging successful medium scale events.

Facility	Description
Main Pavilion	With a large open area, great lighting and wooden flooring, the Main Pavilion is ideal for exhibitions, social events, and can seat up to 600 people. It is also popular for gymnastics events.
Kitchen & Dining	The Kitchen and Dining building offers a large commercial kitchen containing gas ovens and cooking facilities, cool-room and plenty of food preparation space which opens onto an outdoor undercover patio and a large dining area which can seat up to 250 people. Tables and chairs are available. The building is popular for social events including birthday parties and can be hired for an additional cost in conjunction with the Main Pavilion if you require the extra space.
Animal Nursery	The Animal Nursery is a medium sized fully enclosed shed containing good lighting, concrete floor and demountable animal pens.
Cattle Shed	The Cattle Shed provide a large under cover area.
Goat Shed	The Goat Shed offers a medium under cover area with concrete flooring, and fixed animal pens.
Sheep Shed	The Sheep Shed has a large under cover area with concrete floor and demountable animal pens. This facility is popular for rams sales and auctions, and usually hired in conjunction with the Wool Pavilion for an additional cost.
Wool Pavilion	The Wool Pavilion is a fully enclosed building with great lighting and wooden flooring. Fleece racks are available.
Stallion Box	The Stallion Box comprises two door barn style stables that are fully enclosed and have dirt flooring. Hire includes a day yard adjoining the facilities, non-exclusive use of the main arena (if not currently hired), wash bay, and feed storage area.
Pony Stall	The Pony Stall provides under cover stalls, various sizes, some are fully enclosed with the larger stalls being enclosed on three sides only. All stalls have dirt floors and hire includes non-exclusive use of the main arena (if not currently hired).
Open Yard	The Open Yard can be hired separately or in conjunction with a stallion box. The yards are not undercover.
Dressage Arena	The Dressage Arena is a sand arena built to the Equestrian Federation of Australia Standards. It can be hired for a minimal fee.
Main Arena	The Main Arena is suitable for large events such as horse events, dog shows, circus events or various other events requiring a large area of open space. It can also offer a large grandstand for use as a seating and viewing area for any events held in the arena.
Enclosed Catering Shed	The Enclosed Catering Shed contains a fridge and sink, and has a concrete floor.
Open Catering Area	The Open Catering Area contains a large cool-room, sink and concrete floors. This facility can be fully enclosed or have three sides opened to operate as a catering/bar facility. It has an undercover area with tables & chairs in the direct vicinity of the building.
Camping	Both powered and unpowerd sites are available. A caravan dump point is also available by arrangement.
