Halls & Other Community Buildings
Council owns a number of buildings around the Region which are used for a variety of purposes. These include Council’s own office buildings, community halls and buildings such as the Stables Complex in Mudgee, the saleyards, showgrounds and caravan parks.
Rural Halls are not owned by Council, but are managed/operated by the local communities using them.
Council proposes to maintain all of these buildings to a standard that both the Council and the community can be proud of. Therefore, provision has been made for a substantial allocation of funds to ensure that the maintenance of all Council buildings is at an appropriate high standard.
These are the major works planned for this year:
Corporate Buildings

Council is continuing its injection of funds into protecting and enhancing its buildings. Work on a detailed Buildings Strategic Plan is expected to be completed prior to 30 June 2009 and will detail the full scope of works to be undertaken on our corporate buildings.
Community Buildings

Council owns the Cudgegong Southbank site in Short Street, Mudgee. After extensive public consultation the preferred use of the site has been determined and work on this project will continue this year with the detailed design for the project.

Development of new pound facilities in 2009/10.

Upgrade of the toilets at the Rylstone Hall.

Council has adopted a five year plan for upgrades and increased maintenance on rural halls. Works this year include upgrades at Grattai, Cooks Gap, Ilford, Meroo, Bungaba, and Running Stream.
